Notification bell in the system

The notification bell is an icon in the system that shows when new important events or alerts have occurred, giving you a quick overview without needing to search for information, and ultimately helping to reduce email notifications.

- Find your notifications:

Click the bell icon in the top menu.
A list of collected events will appear.

You receive notifications per case and per event.
Note that one case may contain several events.

- Understand what each line of notifications means:

The notification bell shows aggregated events per project and event type, making the list easier to overview.
Example:
“New comment on an application – Project A” (one line)
“New comment on an application – Project B” (another line)
If there is only one event of that type in the project, the list shows how long ago it occurred.

If there are multiple events, the following is displayed:
Latest: The most recent notification linked to the event (e.g., an interview).
First: The oldest unread notification for the same event.
Total: The total number of unread notifications for that event.
Notifications are removed from the list 30 days after the most recent event occurred — regardless of whether the notification has been read or not.

- Mark notifications as read:

When you click on a line, you are taken directly to the relevant project, and the notification is marked as read.
If you enter a project that has new notifications without clicking the bell, these notifications are automatically marked as read.
Alternatively, click “Mark all as read” at the top.

- Will email notifications still be sent?

Yes, all emails are sent exactly as before.

This is the first step in developing the functionality. Going forward, the aim is to:

• Connect more event types to the notification bell.

• Develop summary reminder emails to give a clearer overview of what has happened since you last logged into the system.
  (We do not yet have a timeline for when each type of notification will be introduced.)

• Case published

• Application deadline is approaching or has passed

• Case is not archived

• File uploaded by expert reviewer

• Expert review approved

• Added to project group

• New application

• New comment on an application

• Application assigned to a user

• Application assigned to recruitment group

• Candidate has accepted an invitation

• Candidate has declined an invitation
